How do I pay for this mission trip?

All volunteers are kindly requested to bear their expenses, including airfares, accommodation, transportation, and meals throughout the mission. A member of the organiser will calculate the total cost (excluding airfare to/from Vietnam) and advise you. This cost is not tax deductible.

A $350 AUD registration fee is payable upon registration into our Smile Outreach Foundation account, this is tax deductible.

Cost and Booking:

Cost: The approximate land cost per person ranges between $600 to $1,000, covering twin share accommodation, meals, internal flights, and transport during the mission.

Flight Booking: Volunteers are responsible for booking their return flights.

Travel Dates: Volunteers must arrive in Ho Chi Minh at least a day before the mission starts so we can travel as a group.

Post-Mission Travel: After the mission ends, volunteers are free to plan their holiday in Vietnam.

Working Conditions:

Conditions: Expect challenging conditions due to heat and humidity. The worksite lacks air-conditioning, and work hours are approximately 7 am to 5 pm with a 30-minute lunch break.

Climate: Temperatures range from 25°C to 35°C with an average humidity of 78.6%.

Free Time and Language:

Free Time: Volunteers often have evenings free to explore the local area after dinner.

Language: Proficiency in Vietnamese is not mandatory; translators are available to assist with language barriers.

Health and Age Requirements:

Volunteers must be at least 13 years old (young children must accompany by an adult) and in reasonable health due to environmental conditions.

Immunizations against hepatitis A and B, as well as typhoid, are recommended.

Acceptance: Successful applicants will receive an acceptance offer via email within 2 weeks.
